As the national focal institution to ensure the holistic development of Sri Lankan Children in early childhood through formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes.

Early Childhood Care and Development

The time between zero to five years of a child's life is called as early childhood. This is one of the most critical time period of one's life in physical and cognitive development. Also this time leads the foundation for child's holistic development process in physical, psycho-motor, cognitive, language, emotional, social and spiritual.

Child Care Policy

The policy seeks to provide guidelines on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) intervention and defines co-ordination mechanisms for ECCD activities and for the enhancement of support for ECCD programmes.
